Software

Yes, I'm one of those sad people who take their work home with them and actually code stuff at home as well as at work. The software section contains any completed utilites that I'm giving away. I have numerous projects on the go at any one time but they won't appear here unless they are in a usable state.

Proggy Clean Font

One of the things I stumbled across recently was the Proggy Clean font. Now, if you're thinking, who on earth would go to the trouble of looking for a font... then perhaps you don't do any coding work. It can make the world of difference.

I used to use Courier New but it was always a pain trying to distinguish between zero (0) and uppercase Oh (O), and one (1), ell (l) and eye (I).

The images below show the difference between equivalently sized text using both Courier New and the Proggy Clean font that I currently use. As you can see, with Courier New, it is very difficult to tell the difference between zero and uppercase Oh, and between one, ell and uppercase eye. With the Proggy Clean font, these characters are a lot more distinct.

If you do a lot of coding work, then I recommend you take a look at the Proggy fonts. There are various versions to choose from, although I settled on Proggy Clean in the end.

FxCop

If you're involved in developing .NET software, then you should make use of FxCop. This software analyses your executables and libraries and lists any design issues by validating your code against the Microsoft .NET Design Guidelines. Works for C# and VB.NET that I know of, possibly others too. Check it out.

My Software

As you can see from the left, I have 4 programs currently available for download. I'll be making the source code available as well soon, once I've tidied it up a bit... Feel free to get in touch if you want to know more about them - use the email address on the left.

Check out each page for more information on what they do.
